Position Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) provides clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the healthcare facility. This role involves assisting providers with patient care, performing routine clinical tasks, and maintaining accurate patient records. The MA plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while fostering a positive and welcoming environment.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
Prepare patients for examinations, including taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
Assist providers during exams and minor procedures
Administer injections, perform phlebotomy, and conduct diagnostic tests as directed by a provider.
Clean and sterilize medical equipment and exam rooms between patients.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing.
Administrative Duties
Schedule patient appointments and manage the front desk as needed.
Maintain and update patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Verify patient insurance and assist with billing inquiries.
Respond to patient calls and follow up on lab results or provider instructions.
Patient Education and Communication
Provide patient education on medications, treatments, and preventative health strategies.
Address patient questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and other healthcare team members.
Compliance and Safety
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other healthcare regulations.
Follow infection control protocols to maintain a safe and clean environment.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical guidelines.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred).
Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (preferred).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
Experience
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical setting (preferred).
Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems (preferred).
