Position Summary
A Plus Family Healthcare is seeking a friendly, professional, and organized Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. Key Responsibilities
Patient Engagement
Greet patients and visitors warmly, creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
Check patients in and out for appointments, verifying personal and insurance information for accuracy.
Assist patients with completing forms, answering questions, and providing information about services.
Address patient inquiries in person, over the phone, or via email in a courteous and timely manner.
Scheduling and Coordination
Schedule patient appointments efficiently, ensuring proper time management and provider availability.
Confirm upcoming appointments and provide reminders to reduce no-show rates.
Coordinate with providers and staff to manage appointment schedules and accommodate patient needs.
Administrative Duties
Answer and direct incoming calls to appropriate departments or individuals.
Manage the reception area, ensuring it is clean, organized, and stocked with informational materials.
Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and deliveries.
Collect co-pays, fees, and payments, and provide receipts as needed.
Records and Compliance
Accurately enter patient information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Maintain the confidentiality and security of patient information, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Assist with updating patient records, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Team Collaboration
Communicate effectively with providers, nurses, and other staff to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Provide support for other administrative tasks, such as filing, scanning, and data entry, as needed.
Contribute to a positive team environment by supporting coworkers and promoting organizational goals.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in business, healthcare, or related fields is a plus.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a receptionist, front desk, or customer service role (experience in a healthcare setting preferred).
Skills and Competencies
Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., Athena, Epic, or similar).
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification is preferred but not required.
Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Creole, etc.) are a plus.
