On Friday, March 21st, the A Plus Family HealthCare team came together at The Centre in Leitchfield, KY for a full day of connection, training, and reflection. CEO Patrick Merritt kicked off the event by revisiting the A Plus mission statement, setting a powerful tone and reaffirming our shared commitment to the communities we serve.
A key highlight of the day was a patient simulation exercise, designed to immerse staff in the real-world challenges many of our patients experience. This hands-on session sparked important conversations about empathy, access, and the critical role our Community Health Workers (CHWs) play in bridging gaps and offering support.
The afternoon featured a variety of practical and impactful sessions, including:
Voyce training to enhance communication access for patients with language barriers.
Cybersecurity awareness training, emphasizing best practices for protecting patient data and maintaining HIPAA compliance in a digital environment.
Interactive breakout sessions focused on charting improvement and clinical skills checks, giving staff opportunities to strengthen documentation accuracy and care delivery. Special thanks to HealthForce KY for providing blood pressure simulator arms, which enabled realistic, hands-on training in vital sign assessment.
A thoughtful discussion on child abuse awareness, reinforcing our duty as healthcare professionals to recognize and respond to signs of abuse. Thank you to Janna Estep-Jordan from Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky.
At A Plus, continuous training isn’t just a box to check—it’s how we grow stronger as a team and deliver exceptional care. Thank you to all who participated and contributed to a meaningful day of learning.
